The Bio-Security Car was a border between the 3rd class and the Tail. It also served as a garrison for Jackboots and Brakemen that guarded the Tailies.
History[]
The Bio-Security Car was originally designed to play a crucial role in decontaminating any passengers boarding through the tail cars / Docking car. As the supply train fell into disuse after the freeze and the tailies were sealed in the rear cargo cars, the Bio-security car came to serve as a decontamination checkpoint to ensure than any tailies pulled uptrain prevent the spread of any tail-born diseases.
Sanitation crews coming uptrain from the tail are given the brown and yellow sanitation uniform to make them easily identifiable.
Technology[]
The Bio-Security Car incorporates several means in securing the rear cargo car entrances, thus keeping diseases from spreading uptrain. All of those traveling uptrain are given a full shower, full eye, ears, and mouth evaluations, and have their temperature checked.
The car also incorporates a gate-lock system, where in the event of escape, one door would be closed, preventing traveling uptrain, however, it proved futile in keeping Strong Boy out during a riot.
Interior[]
The interior of the Bio-Security Car is very similar to that of the Utility Car with the same lighting and detail. At the back of the car is a double-door lock, with only one door allowed to be open at once. The rear doors have 2 extremely tiny small holes, (one in the left door high, one in the right door low) that are used by the Tailies to know when Jackboots are coming. Then, is an area with showers, uniform racks, and any necessary supplies for disinfecting those traveling uptrain. Surrounding the showers on either side is a double door lock, the same as the one at the back of the car. Then, is the front of the car, and the entrance to the cars infront. There is also a window behind a panel that slides up, on the left side of the Car. Added info and link
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
- When Andre Layton got removed from the Tail, he got showered and got medical check in the Bio-Security Car by Henry Klimpt before advancing to the Sub-Train.[1]
- The Tailies failed insurrection was stopped by Jackboots at this car.[1]
- When Big John and Santiago got pulled up to work uptrain, they got cleaned in the Bio-Security Car.[2]
When Melanie Cavill was discovered to be acting as Wilford, Grey had the Jackboots moved to the front of the train, leaving Jackboot Jefferson to guard the Tail. When Bess Till later arrived with Andre Layton in fake custody to free the Tail, Jefferson assaulted Layton and tired to justify it. When he tried to call up train, to inform of Layton's capture, Lights cut the line and Bess then knocked him out, allowing them to free the Tailies. Jefferson was then decapitated and his head placed in a box in the Night Car.
As of the end of the Revolution, the Bio-Security car came into disuse as the tail was no longer considered separate from the general population. Lead Brakemen Roche had also noted that the post revolution train "doesn't even care about their bio-security failing".
