Buffalo is a recurring character on TNT's Snowpiercer. She is portrayed by Olga Zippa.
History[]
Nothing is known about Buffalo's background except she was an Engineer under the command of Admiral Anton Milius.
Throughout The Series[]
Season 4[]
In Snakes in the Garden, Buffalo and the rest of Animal Squad storm Snowpiercer after luring the train into a trap. Nine months later, Oz has been hearing voices in the mountains near New Eden and Gaelic singing which he believes to be the ghost of LJ Folger haunting him. In reality, Oz is hearing Buffalo whose voice is apparently echoing in the hills while Animal Squad spies on the town before Rat abducts Liana Layton with the help of Mrs. Headwood.
In The Sting of Survival, after Admiral Anton Milius forces Melanie Cavill to allow Animal Squad into the Engine, he has Buffalo take over driving the train. When Melanie forces her way back into the Engine, Buffalo points a gun at her, but Melanie deduces that the woman is under orders not to harm her and she releases the people trapped in the Market Car. Melanie's standoff with Buffalo ends when Milius returns with Doctor Nima Rousseau to explain their mission.
In North Star, Buffalo monitors Miles as he drives Snowpiercer when Andre Layton arrives on Big Alice in search of his missing daughter. When Josie Wellstead calls the train, Buffalo doesn't interfere when Miles answers the call from his adoptive mother, earning Buffalo Milius' ire for letting Miles use the radio. Later, Oz hears Buffalo's voice on the radio during a blizzard shortly before Sam Roche disappears.
In A Moth to a Flame, Buffalo reveals to Nima that the Admiral is dead. However, Nima convinces the soldiers to continue on with the mission even without Milius.
In Dominant Traits, Buffalo orders Ace of Spades to stay on task when Oz taunts him over the radio as a distraction. Oz recognizes Buffalo's voice as the one that he kept hearing in the hills and asks her why she was talking to him, much to Buffalo's confusion, particularly when Oz tells Buffalo that he had thought that she was his psycho ex-wife. After Oz calls her an Irish mercenary, Buffalo clarifies that she's an Engineer and asks Ace how Oz got his hands on a radio. Buffalo later drives Snowpiercer into town and connects it to Big Alice.
In Last Stop, Buffalo continues to drive the train as it engages the Caterpillar System, leaves the tracks, and heads out across the ocean to the launch point. When Melanie and Javi reach the Engine after Nima's death and the rocket's failed launch, Buffalo surrenders control of the train to them without a fight.
Buffalo later moves to New Eden and during the party, she sits with Oz and Boki, drinking and laughing with her new friends. Bess Till explains that it turns out that Buffalo is just an Engineer, and she was no fan of Milius'. Miss Audrey is glad that Buffalo is being given a second chance.
Personality[]
Unlike her more vicious colleagues, Buffalo seems to be kinder and more compassionate, as seen with her not being a fan of Admiral Anton Milius despite working for the man. When Josie Wellstead calls Snowpiercer, Buffalo notably chooses not to intervene when Miles answers the radio, allowing him to talk to his adoptive mother for the first time in a year before Milius intervenes which earns Buffalo her boss' irritation.
After leaving the International Peacekeeping Forces, Buffalo is shown enjoying herself in New Eden, laughing and drinking with Oz and Boki. Notably, despite having been their enemy just a short time before, Buffalo quickly finds acceptance amongst the former Snowpiercer passengers who give her a second chance after Buffalo explains herself.

Trivia[]
- Buffalo is the source of the mysterious Gaelic singing and the voice that Oz hears in Snakes in the Garden and North Star, although she hadn't been intentionally talking to Oz. Presumably, her voice was just echoing in the hills while she was spying on New Eden in Snakes in the Garden and Oz was somehow picking up her radio transmission in North Star at a time when the International Peacekeeping Forces were close enough to abduct Sam Roche soon afterwards.
- Oz had thought that she was the ghost of LJ Folger haunting him.
- Buffalo calls Oz a "wean," meaning that she was calling Oz a child.
