Lights is a recurring character on TNT's Snowpiercer. She is portrayed by Miranda Edwards.
History[]
Lights is one of the Tail section passengers aboard Snowpiercer. Due to her electronics knowledge, she plays a vital role in the Tail and their various rebellions, including building fertilizer bombs for the Year Three Rebellion.
Throughout The Series[]
Season 1[]
In First, the Weather Changed, in the morning she takes care of Big John who is sick. She later sings Happy Birthday to Old Ivan and helps him listen to music with a phone. She assists in the failed Tailie rebellion but is ultimately caught by Brakeman John Osweiller.
In Prepare to Brace, she tutors the kids in the Tail about addition, including Winnie, Mikala, Mia, Miles and one unnamed kid, with Josie watching happily when Miles answers the question correctly. When the lights go off, she uses her flashlight.
Season 3[]
In The First Blow, Lights, Pike, Strong Boy, and Ruth Wardell attempt to disarm an EMP weapon that Wilford intends to use against the Pirate Train with Ruth allowing herself to be captured in order to buy the others some time. After it's inadvertently activated, the group throws the weapon off of the train, signaling the position of Wilford's Rolling Gulag to the Pirate Train.
In Born to Bleed, Bess Till visits Lights in her repair stall in the Market seeking information on the fertilizer bomb used in a failed assassination attempt on Layton. Lights admits to being the one to construct the bombs during the Year Three Rebellion, and Till asks for anything that Lights can give her. Lights pulls out her cookbook, only to discover that the pages relating to the fertilizer bombs are missing. With only the Tailie War Council even being aware of its existence, Pike is quickly identified as the culprit. Lights later joins the other Tailies in gathering as Layton and Pike attempt to settle their dispute using Old Ivan's Way, resulting in Layton killing Pike.
In The Original Sinners, Lights and the other Tailies remain loyal to Layton despite the revelation of his New Eden lie. Lights in particular steals the train's EVA Suits and takes them to the Resistance's Hideout where she communicates with the others using a rat as a messenger. Ruth later finds and joins Lights, and the two women work together to take down Boki with Lights hitting him in the head with a celling grate after Ruth lures Boki into position. Alongside the other Tailies aside from Miles, Lights decides to join Layton in traveling to New Eden on Big Alice with New Eden proving to be habitable.
Season 4[]
In Life Source, Lights sees Layton, the other Tailies, Ruth Wardell and Alexandra Cavill off in Big Alice to rescue Liana, but she chooses not to join them.
In A Moth to a Flame, Lights is enlisted by Javi, Sykes, and Oz to help them deal with the bombs that the International Peacekeeping Forces planted along the mountainside above the town. Lights warns the others about how easily the bombs can be set off, before Big Alice returns. Worried about booby traps, the group has the train stop before it can cross the old Trestle Bridge and Lights leads the effort to sweep the tracks. After finding a bomb on the tracks, Javi sends the others away while he attempts to disarm it, but it ultimately detonates.
In By Weeping Cross, Lights and the others find a concussed Javi after the explosion and rush him to the clinic for treatment by Doctor Pelton.
In Dominant Traits, Lights takes part in the Battle of New Eden and joins Layton and many other in storming Snowpiercer in an effort to stop Doctor Nima Rousseau from launching Gemini.

Memorable Quotes[]
Trivia[]
- Her character seems similar to Tanya from the film.
- She has a pair of binoculars that she used to look out the small window in the Tail.
- The remaining fingers on her left hand forms a W for Wilford.
- It's never made clear who attacked Lights. While the Breachmen were initially suspected, they all claimed not to be responsible. Later, the Breachmen themselves were murdered by Eugenia and seven other Wilford supporters on the orders of Wilford himself. They may have also been responsible for attacking Lights as a part of Wilford's plans to divide the train. Notably, she was attacked near the Tea Room where Pastor Logan was orchestrating the attacks and the Breachmen's killers wore masks like Lights' attackers.
- She has a cookbook containing recipes for fertilizer bombs (used in the Year Three Rebellion), spring-loaded weapons and other such weapons. Only the Tailie War Council knew of its existence.
- Lights appears to be the closest thing that New Eden and possibly even the trains in general have to a bomb expert with even Sykes, despite her past as Wilford's head of security and knowledge on a number of subjects, turning to Lights for help.
