“ | I know it seems like this might be the end... but it's not. It can't be. This is Snowpiercer, for God's sake! We are the last of Earth's survivors and I just... We are going to make it. I just know it. We just will. Mr. Wilford has gotten us out of worse scrapes before. So, keep the faith... and you just remember that his Engine always provides. So, find someone... and hold them close. And please... try to stay warm. | ” |

The Torretta Canyon Crisis is a train-wide crisis where Snowpiercer nearly derails in Torretta Canyon while the Engineers are attempting to repair a broken bogie motor that was inadvertently caused by Erik Sotto.
History[]
A Broken Motor[]
While being hunted down by Jackboots, Erik Soto inadvertently caused a leak that damaged one of Snowpiercer's bogie motors, causing a break to seize.
Melanie Cavill, Bennett Knox, Bojan Boscovic and Peter DiMarco were forced to swap out to motor in order to fix the problem. However, while Melanie was on her way to meet up with the others, she was confronted by a vengeful Andre Layton and was forced to answer his questions about the Drawers true purpose. Although Layton had originally intended to kill her, the danger to the train caused him to relent and let Melanie go.
At the same time, while the others were lifting out the broken motor, a chain snapped, causing it to hit DiMarco, killing him, and fall, breaking a connector below the train. This caused many of the cars to buckle and rock back and forth.
Torretta Canyon[]
By the time that Melanie arrived, Bennett and Boki had managed to replace the motor, but they were unable to fix the problem with the hydraulics which Melanie realized was caused by a broken connector beneath the train. Melanie decided to go down herself to repair it and had Javier De La Torre take Snowpiercer down to dead minimum speed. However, Javi warned Melanie that they had about 8 minutes until the Engine hit the bridge over Torretta Canyon and about 14 minutes until the car that Melanie was in hit the bridge. Melanie revealed that at their current angle, when the car hit Torretta Canyon, the whole train was going to derail.
As Melanie attempted to fix the broken connector and people all over the train panicked, Ruth Wardell made an announcement of hope expressing a belief that Snowpiercer would survive the crisis and urging people to support each other. With mere seconds to spare, Melanie managed to repair the broken connector, causing the train to right itself just in time to cross the bridge without derailing. As everyone celebrated, Javi brought Snowpiercer back up to speed.
Aftermath[]
In the aftermath, Bennett Knox addressed Third Class, which had been on the verge of a worker's strike, and demonstrated that the train was safe once again to much cheering. The crisis also caused Third Class to cancel their strike.
Due to the death of Peter DiMarco, who was one of the train's only Engineers, the young Tailie and Engineer apprentice Miles was fast-tracked to the Engine to serve as his replacement.
